Diagram of Meta Andromeda ads strategy showing creative diversification formula and consolidated adset structure

The Meta Andromeda ads strategy that works in 2026 is a creative diversification framework built on one formula: persona plus awareness stage plus angle plus concept, delivered through consolidated ad sets with more ads and fewer ad sets. After Meta rolled out the Andromeda algorithm (initially in beta January 2025, fully global July 2025), most ecommerce brands watched their ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) tank because their creative approach still targets the same audience with cosmetic variations. In this breakdown, we share the exact creative strategy we used to spend $150,000 in the last 30 days at a 3.97x ROAS, roughly a 4x return, for one of our ecommerce clients.

We started fixing accounts for Andromeda in April 2025 after spotting the ROAS drop in March, which is why our client roster largely avoided the July to September panic that hit the rest of the industry. Andromeda is not here to penalize advertisers, it is here to reward creative diversity and consolidated structures. Below we show you how to actually implement it.

TL;DR

Andromeda winning formula: creative diversification + more ads, less adsets = better performance. – Real result: $150K spent, 3.97x ROAS in 30 days on one client using this exact framework. – Structure: single adsets holding 24 to 49 ads outperformed split-testing setups (5.31x and 4.05x ROAS respectively). – Real diversification means changing persona, awareness stage, angle, or concept, not swapping a headline. – Budget distribution: Meta now spends most of your budget on top-of-funnel unaware ads. That is intentional, not a bug.

Why Your ROAS Tanked After the Andromeda Update

Meta Andromeda is the new ad delivery algorithm published by Meta’s Engineering team on December 2, 2024, beta-launched in January 2025, and rolled out globally in July 2025. According to Meta’s official engineering post, the system uses vastly larger models to match creatives to users more precisely.

The problem: most ecommerce brands are still running the pre-Andromeda playbook. Two ads with the same persona, same angle, same concept, and only a headline swap. Andromeda categorizes both ads into the same bucket, delivers them to the same audience, and your budget gets capped.

We cover the full algorithm mechanics in our Meta Andromeda complete guide for ecommerce, which is the pillar reference for everything in this post.

The Andromeda Winning Formula

The entire post-Andromeda playbook collapses into one line:

> Creative diversification + more ads, less adsets = better performance.

Two pieces. First, creative diversification means every ad must target a distinct persona, awareness stage, angle, or concept combination. Second, structural consolidation means you stop splitting tests across many adsets and instead stack ads inside fewer adsets so Andromeda can distribute delivery itself.

Proof from our ad account, last 30 days:

| Structure | Ads in Adset | ROAS | |—|—|—| | 1 campaign, 1 adset | 49 ads | 4.05x | | 1 campaign, 1 adset | 24 ads | 5.31x |

Splitting these into 5 or 10 separate adsets would have fragmented learning and dropped performance.

How Andromeda Distributes Budget Across User Awareness Stages

Comparison of healthy vs broken Meta ad budget distribution across user awareness stages post-Andromeda

Andromeda buckets your ads by persona, angle, concept, and user awareness stage (unaware, problem aware, solution aware, product aware, most aware). The algorithm then pushes budget toward the ads with the highest volume potential, which are almost always top-of-funnel unaware and problem-aware ads.

Here is the scenario that surprises most advertisers.

Scenario 1 (healthy account): You have a mix across all five awareness stages. Meta spends most of the budget on the unaware and problem-aware ads with lower individual ROAS. The adset average sits at 4.15x ROAS. Do not turn those low-ROAS top-of-funnel ads off. They are the reason the whole funnel is stable.

Scenario 2 (broken account): You are only running solution-aware, product-aware, and most-aware ads. Meta has no top-of-funnel volume to feed, spend concentrates on middling ads, and ROAS craters.

The fix is to build ads at every awareness stage. For a deeper look at reading and reacting to this distribution pattern, see our post on why Meta lies about your winning ads.

What Creative Diversification Actually Means (With AG1 Example)

AG1 testimonial ad broken down into persona, awareness stage, angle, and concept for creative diversification

Real creative diversification means changing at least one of four inputs: persona, awareness stage, angle, or ad concept. Let us break down a single AG1 testimonial ad to show all four inputs at once.

Persona: health-conscious adults, age 25 to 45 (signaled by the body shown in the visual). – Awareness stage: solution aware moving to product aware. The user knows they have irregular digestion and knows probiotics or supplements exist. – Angle: digestive health and daily comfort. – Concept: testimonial-style, person with hands on belly to visually cue digestion.

One ad, four levers. That is the unit of diversification.

What Does NOT Count as Diversification

– Two ads, same visual, only the headline swapped. – Two ads, same concept, different colors or fonts. – Two ads, same persona and angle, minor copy tweak.

90% of the time these ads get delivered to the same audience. You are not expanding reach, you are duplicating spend.

What DOES Count as Diversification

Starting from one static ad, here are three valid diversification moves:

  1. Same angle, same concept, different ad type: turn the static into a video for audiences who consume more video.
  2. Same angle, same awareness stage, different concept: minimalist text ad vs. visual demonstration ad. Different viewers respond to different visual formats.
  3. Same angle, different awareness stage, different concept: one energy-angle ad focused on solution aware, another on product aware, each with distinct visuals.

For a deeper look at how these variations sequence together at scale, our breakdown on creative sequencing for Meta ads post-Andromeda shows the full production system.

The Full Creative Strategy Roadmap

Here is the exact production sequence we use for every client account.

Step 1: Define personas. For a weight-loss brand, that might be: – Persona 1: health-conscious professional, wants results without losing time. – Persona 2: busy mom, struggles with energy and time for workouts. – Persona 3: gym skeptic, dislikes exercise or finds gyms intimidating.

Step 2: Map angles per persona. For the health-conscious professional: – Angle A: lose weight without cardio. – Angle B: boost metabolism naturally. – Angle C: undo the damage of sitting all day.

Step 3: Shape each angle across awareness stages. For “lose weight without cardio”: – Unaware: “Cardio might be slowing your progress. Here is why walking less could help you lose more.” – Solution aware: “Our clients lose up to 8 lbs faster with this cardio-free method.”

Step 4: Choose the ad concept per message. Testimonial UGC works well for solution aware. Storytelling and myth-busting videos work well for unaware. Headliners can span multiple stages.

Step 5: Build variations inside each concept. Change the hook, script, B-roll, or actor age to match the persona subsegment. A 35-year-old actor and a 45-year-old actor will get delivered to different audiences even inside the same persona bucket.

Do this across every persona and every angle and you generate 30 to 60 genuinely diversified ads that Andromeda can distribute properly.

Ad Account Structure Post-Andromeda

Once your creative is built, the account structure is simple:

Fewer adsets (often just one CBO with broad targeting). – More ads per adset (20 to 50 diversified creatives). – Let Andromeda distribute across awareness stages instead of manually splitting.

This matches what we cover in more detail in our post on the post-Andromeda consolidated CBO strategy, where we saw a 94% ROAS lift in five days.

When Meta spends budget on a low-ROAS ad in this structure, do not panic. Ask two questions first:

1. Is this ad top-of-funnel (unaware or problem aware)? If yes, keep it. It stabilizes the funnel. 2. Is the adset-level ROAS still hitting target? If yes, keep it.

Only turn off ads that are eating spend AND sit in the same awareness stage as your top performers AND drag adset ROAS below target. That is the decision tree we use to hit 3.97x on $150K in 30 days.

FAQ

What is the Meta Andromeda ads strategy?

It is a creative diversification framework combined with consolidated ad structure (more ads, fewer adsets) designed to match Meta’s Andromeda algorithm rolled out globally in July 2025. Every ad must target a distinct combination of persona, awareness stage, angle, and concept.

How many ads should be in a single adset post-Andromeda?

Based on our accounts, 20 to 50 diversified ads in a single adset outperformed multi-adset splits. Two of our live examples: 49 ads in one adset at 4.05x ROAS, and 24 ads in one adset at 5.31x ROAS.

Why is Meta spending most of my budget on my lowest-ROAS ads?

Andromeda prioritizes ads with the highest volume potential, which are typically unaware and problem-aware top-of-funnel creatives. Their individual ROAS looks lower but they stabilize the entire funnel. Turning them off usually crashes your account.

Does changing the headline count as creative diversification?

No. If two ads share the same persona, awareness stage, angle, and concept, Andromeda buckets them together and delivers them to the same audience. Real diversification requires changing at least one of the four inputs.

When did Meta Andromeda launch?

Meta’s Engineering team published the update on December 2, 2024. The algorithm was beta-launched in January 2025 and fully rolled out globally in July 2025.

What is the winning Andromeda formula?

Creative diversification + more ads, less adsets = better performance. Diversify creative across persona, awareness stage, angle, and concept, then consolidate structure so Andromeda handles delivery.
